Why Did God Choose You?

Why did God choose you, when he could have chosen someone more eloquent, someone who was a trained speaker or someone with more religious training? But God didn’t choose someone else. God chose you to set his children free?

God chose you because no one else will do.

You are the only one who will be there. You alone will be in the exact place at the exact time with the exact message. You will speak for God. It will be your eyes and your smile that draws people to God. People need God to speak to them through you.

This means you must no longer be silent. When you feel God encouraging you to speak, speak. Be gentle and loving. Tell your story and then tell God’s story.

I know you don’t feel up to it and I know that you think God could send someone better to speak for him. But you are chosen. All of the prophets felt inadequate to speak for God.

Moses said to the LORD, "O Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue" (Exodus 4:10).

"Ah, Sovereign LORD," I said, "I do not know how to speak; I am only a child (Jeremiah 1:6)."

"Woe to me!" I cried. "I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty." (Isaiah 6:5)

But you are the right person. God knows who you are and God knows you have faults. God will put the words in your mouth.

Stay connected and when the time comes---speak.

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations" (Jeremiah 1:5).
