Best Christmas Gift

You might think that would be the baby Jesus, and yes he was the best gift of all time, but what about this year? What is the best gift God gave us this year?

Genesis 26

Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth...."

God created you in his image in his likeness. He created you to rule over all the earth.

Rulers need training. We don't want just anyone to rule. The best rulers are chosen by God.

Romans 8:28-30

²⁸And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. ²⁹For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. ³⁰And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.

So God knew you from the beginning. He knows everything you have ever done, everything you are doing, and everything you will do. God is molding you into the image of his Son. This molding is often painful, because you are being mad into a new person--a person just like Jesus. God knew from the beginning that you would be his child. It's no mistake. At some point you heard God's call and you answered it. You can feel him even now in your heart. "Don't be afraid," he says. "Follow me," he says. "I will help you," he says.

In the process of conforming, God justified you, purifying you of all sin, and forgetting all of the bad things you have ever done.

No matter what you think or how you feel, you are walking into eternal glory.

God has a purpose for your life--you are a light. This light lives in your heart and nothing is more powerful than your eyes, your smile and your story.

So, the best Christmas gift this year is YOU.
